Prevent Alzheimer’s disease and enhance the ability of memory retention
The lion’s Mane mushroom, or Hericiumerinacium (scientific name), contains a component that is effective towards the prevention and treatment for Alzheimer’s disease. In medical aspects, Alzheimer’s disease is an incurable disease because it affects the nerve growth factors. In addition, it is a high molecular substance and easily get degraded so that this factor cannot get through the blood brain barrier. However, a low molecular substance such as Lion’s Mane mushroom extracts (Hericenone and Erinacine) can promote the biosynthesis of nerve growth factor and it will prevent the loss of neurons. Therefore, it can get through the blood brain barrier and will be the only substance that can prevent and treat the Alzheimer’s disease. There aren’t any harmful effects on the human body. [Biol. Pharm. Bull. 31(9) 1727-1732 (2008)]

The intake of abundant fibers in Lion’s Mane mushrooms activates the process in a humans’ intestines and it is beneficial for people who has a chronic constipation. Furthermore, it excretes waste matter from the body so that improves the intestines health.
The Lion’s Mane mushroom has very low calories, 35kcal per 100g, and the abundant moisture and fiber cause people to feel satisfied easily.
The reason why the lion’s Mane mushroom is good for the development of brain is that it is consisted of Hericenone and Erinacine. Those components not only prevent the damage of nerve cells, but also proliferate it, which may help the improvement of children’s and student’s memory.
It has been reported that Hericium Polysaccharide can be only found in Lion’s Mane mushrooms. They can strengthen the macrophage and lymphocytes therefore reducing the incidence of stomach cancer and colorectal cancer. In addition, improvements to the prevention of gastric ulcers, duodenal ulcers, chronic gastritis and reflux esophagitis.
The Lion’s Mane mushroom possesses materials that enhance the immune response in the human body such as β-D-glucan. It is so called BRM (Biological Response Modifiers) which increased the immunity and inhibits excessive amounts to enter body. This is homeostasis, homeostatic function (=automatic balancing mechanism), and the Lion’s Mane mushroom has it. That is why it was expected to have effects on Cancer, Dementia, and infectious diseases, and it actually shows dramatic results.
The one of main reasons is that free radicals in the human body damage the normal cells. The Lion’s Mane mushroom shows the delay of aging, as a result of the elimination of free radicals.
The abundant of Beta-D-glucan in Lion’s Mane mushrooms activate the immune response so that it inhibits the proliferation and recurrence of cancer cells. Most mushrooms have only one or two kinds of active polysaccharide, but the Lion’s Mane mushroom has 5 kinds of active polysaccharides. Above all, alactoxyloglucan and heteroxyloglucan are unique active polysaccharides in Lion’s Mane mushrooms.
Minerals such as potassium, calcium, magnesium in Lion’s Mane mushrooms enter the human body and interact with enzymes. As a result of the intake of the low molecular substance, which is absorbed into the body by ionic signal mechanism, it restores the function of beta cell and secretes insulin. Likewise, with this mechanism, insulin is secreted at normal levels and lowers the blood sugar level. The main ingredients of lion’s mane mushroom
